Switching from spectacles to contact lenses is less difficult than you may well feel. Contact lenses would be the favored option to vision correction nowadays, offering you the vision enhancement you ought at a cost you may afford. There can be a great deal of issues you are going to to ought to know about your contacts, whilst they are far superior to the conventional correction of eyeglasses.

The very first factor you’ll must do when getting contact lenses would be to go to your optician and be fitted for the contacts. Your optician will offer you a prescription for your contact lenses, examine the well being of your eyes, and tell you which sort of contact lenses will work the best for you. He or she can also inform you which contacts are greatest for ones spending budget at the same time.

Nowadays, one can find several contact lenses to choose from. You’ve got a lot of completely different manufacturers too, providing a lot of various kinds, colors, and styles. Not all are suitable for you although, as no 2 eyes would be the same. As you get fitted on your contact lenses, your optician will likely be in a position to support you make that decision.

While you initial begin sporting your contact lenses, you ought to never don them for extended durations of time. Contacts on your mobile phone will have to have a while to regulate to your eyes, and your eyes will will need some time to rest. Should you have on them too lengthy as you start off wearing them, they are able to harm your eyes. Your optician will let you know what he recommends, which is regularly several hours throughout the day then take them out. With every passing day, you’ll have on them for longer periods until your eyes gradually regulate.

Yet another aspect that may take some finding utilized to, that you simply do not face with eyeglasses, is realizing the best way to handle your contact lenses. You will would like to make certain that your hands are clear prior to you handle your contact lenses, to stay clear of scratching or damaging the contact lenses. Once you take your contacts out or place them inside your eyes, you are going to must take care of them – which needs your fingers being clear.

Some thing you would probably experience with your new contacts is dry eyes. Dryness inside eyes when putting on contacts is very prevalent, and should preferably be expected. When carrying glasses, that is 1 predicament you won’t have. If your eyes start out to dry out when wearing your contacts, you should preferably place a few drops of re-wetting or saline remedy inside your eyes. These drops will assistance to moisten your eyes and give you some relief from the irritation that dryness causes.

Even though eyeglasses really should be cleaned often, contact lenses must be cleaned and disinfected on a day-to-day basis. Protein will construct up on the surface of the contacts, requiring them being cleaned with a disinfecting or multi-purpose remedy. The easiest method to do this is to soak your contact lenses while in the choice after you go to sleep at night. This way, you’ll be able to wake up within the morning and your contact lenses will likely be ready to have on.

All in all, contact lenses are preferred over glasses. You will might want to change them out though, typically each couple of weeks. Altering them out having a fresh pair will make your eyes really feel refreshed, and keep you from having infections. Contact lenses are perfect for just about anyone, and they can give you a full range of sight. They won’t hang off your face like spectacles – yet they will give the freedom in understanding that you simply can do essentially any activity you prefer.

The first contact lenses ever made were developed out of glass. After that, new types appeared, as the ones made of Plexiglas and the rigid gas permeable ones, but, nowadays, the soft contact lens is the most appreciated. Modern materials include silicon hydrogel or other plastic polymers like etalficon A, galyficon A, senofilcon A (used in the fabrication of Acuvue contact lenses). Rigid gas permeable contact lenses are recommended to the persons with dry eyes as these lenses contain no water that could evaporate during the wearing.

The wearing time

A daily contact lens is safer as the risk of infection is lower than at the long term contact lens. This type does not require cleaning, being single-use only. It is sterile. And it even keeps you away from spending money on cleaning or storage solutions. On the other hand, the extended wear type of contact lenses allows people to easily wear contacts for a longer period while allowing oxygenation (they usually have a high oxygen permeability rate). Some people prefer them as their convenience is obvious, but the risk of infection is higher than at the daily type of contact lenses due to the bacterial stagnation, dust accumulation and so on.

One of the most popular contact lenses brand in the world is Acuvue, produced by Johnson & Johnson’s subsidiary Vistakon Company. They provide both vision and esthetical contact lenses. They design disposable lenses, making types that are to be replaced every two weeks (Acuvue, Acuvue 2, Acuvue 2 Colors, Acuvue Advanced and Acuvue Oasys) or less (1-Day Acuvue). They’re also started making extended wear lenses.

Where to buy them from

Contact lens quality is very important. Low-quality contact lenses can damage the eye, causing irritations or hurting the eyelid or the cornea. Attention must be paid to the way the lenses are worn, kept and cleaned because, even if they are high-quality, they present different risks. So, the contact lens must be bought from specialised stores after consulting a doctor. Places where these items are available can be found anywhere as the contact lenses online are very popular. Another tendency is to acquire them from an on-line store. This method can even be less expensive and still offer the same quality. You just need the prescription. But be careful and only choose reputable stores. Your health is at stake.

When people play sports, sunglasses are worn for protection just as much as they are worn for looks. Wearing sunglasses protects the eyes from damage due to the sun as well as physical injury. There are now many types of stylish sunglasses available for the avid sports enthusiast.

The following is a list of the different types of sunglasses that are good for sports:

Sunglasses for Cyclists: The best sunglasses for cyclists are those designed for speed and wind. They should be lightweight and block the brightness of the sun. They should also be designed to hug the face to block dirt particles and wind, especially those who mountain bike. Cycling sunglasses should be impact resistant, strong, durable, and have a strong lens and frame. They should be ultra violent resistant and block the bright sun rays. Polarized sunglasses are a good choice. Anarchy sunglasses are a popular brand for cyclists.

Sunglasses for Golfers: People who golf know that the sun can play a significant part in how well they play. Bright sun can throw a player off his or her game. Sunglasses that have a yellow lens reduce the bright conditions caused by the sun on the open green. They help make the golf course and its terrain much clearer and more visible. Popular brands include Nike, Adidas, and Bolle sunglasses. Sunglasses with a high nanometre rating are effective at blocking ultra violet light.

Extreme Sports Sunglasses: When playing extreme sports, sunglasses need to hug the face, be strong and durable, have effective hinges and screws, and have a lens and frame that can handle strong impacts. Popular sunglasses for people who engage in extreme sports such as snowboarding, skateboarding, skiing, and dirt bike racing are Black Flys and Julbo sunglasses. They are UV resistant and have polycarbonate lenses.

Popular brands of sport sunglasses include:

1. Nike Sunglasses: Nike has a variety of sunglasses suitable for sport activities. Features of many of Nike sunglasses include poly carbonate lenses, metal frames, and varying lens types that block sun brightness while making objects clearer and more visible. They also have interchangeable lenses to fit different light and weather conditions.

2. North Face Sunglasses: The North Face brand of sunglasses is great for cold climate sports such as climbing snowy mountains and other winter sports. They have excellent eye shield and sun blocking lenses.

3. Oakley Sunglasses: Oakley makes sunglasses for almost every type of sport and weather condition. They are strong, durable, impact resistant, and are designed for effective peripheral vision. They allow for customization so that the wearer gets a secure fit. 4. Bolle Sunglasses: These stylish sunglasses have many interchangeable lenses and are designed for a secure fit to protect your eyes and face.

5. Smith Slider: This popular brand of sunglasses has a variety of lenses to suit many weather conditions. They provide great coverage while enhancing peripheral vision. They contain fittings that make the sunglasses secure and durable.

When looking for a good pair of sunglasses, you should consider whether the glasses are a good fit, are made of a good quality non-skid materials placed on the nose and at the temples to prevent slippage when sweating, quality of shatter resistant lenses, and how well the glasses protect you from the glaring sun.

Whether for protection, style, or both, sunglasses for sports are a necessity. When choosing a pair of sports sunglasses, it is important to consider how well the sunglasses will work in your particular sport.

Whether you are a new contact lens wearer or you have been using them for years to correct your vision, you may be wondering how can you tell if a contact lens is inside out. If you suspect you may be wearing your contact lenses incorrectly or they just feel uncomfortable, here are some ways you can determine this to avoid the problem in the future.

Look at the Lens

Before placing the lens in your eye, hold it on the tip of your index finger and look at it carefully from the side. Is it shaped like the letter “U” or it is flared on the sides, like a soup bowl? The correct shape of a soft contact lens should be like the letter “U”. If its shaped like a soup bowl, then its inside out. Some people also recommend the “taco test” whereby you gently squeeze the lens so that the edges touch. If they touch completely, then the lens is right side out. If the edges flare out and dont touch fully, then its inside out. Simply flip the lens around and it will be positioned correctly for wearing.

Another way to determine if your contact lens is right side out is to look at it from the top. This is especially important if you are wearing the colored enhanced type. The edge of a tinted lens will be look very blue. If it looks greenish, then it is inverted and you should carefully flip the lens around in order to wear it properly.

Find the Engraving

Some contact lenses have factory engraving on them, done by special lasers. This can include the manufacturer information, model number, brand name or grade of materials used. While this is not detected by the human eye when wearing, it can be of help when trying to determine if you are wearing your contact lenses correctly. Some brands have a “1-2-3″ engraved on them, so you would make sure this is the side facing downwards on your finger as you place the contact into your eye. If you can read this label, then the lens is inside out. You can remove it safely without damaging your eyes and flip it around for replacement.

Ask the Professional

Of course, please check with your eye doctor if you experience any discomfort with your contacts. They can often help you more with this perplexing problem or demonstrate to you further what to do. Common sense should tell you if you are wearing your contact lens incorrectly. If they feel uncomfortable or you feel slight pressure on your eyes, its probably because you have placed the lenses incorrectly on your eyes. You may want to practice a little when first getting a new set of contact lenses to see what works best for you and to get used to the feel of them. Once you do, you should enjoy months of enjoyable experience with your new lenses.

A daily care routine is an essential part of owning Acuvue Oasys contact lenses. There are a few basic care needs that one should be aware before using these contact lenses. If you are unable to follow a routine, unable to insert and remove the lenses, or have another person insert and remove the lenses, then it would be wise to rethink the need or desire for contact lenses. If you are great at a routine then there are a few basics you will need to follow.

Before you go home for the first time with contact lenses, make sure you insert and remove them while you are still at the Optometrist or eye care specialists office as this will help clear up any questions. Before handling the lenses make sure your hands are washed and dried thoroughly. A common mistake that can be made is putting the lens in your mouth to lubricate or moisten it, or using tap water to clean or moisten the lens. Unfortunately, this could lead to accidentally swallowing the lens or dropping it into the sink drain. Also, tap water contains impurities that can contaminate the lens or could lead to eye infections, possibly even injuring the eye.

The first time you purchase a pair of lenses, be sure to get a recommended cleaning and disinfection routine as well as instructions about care, handling, and cleaning. The eye care specialist will be able to teach you about proper care procedures and will suggest the best products to use for the type of lenses you have. When you remove your lenses, they must be cleaned and disinfected before you put them back in your eyes.

In order to continue safe and comfortable wear of the lenses, it is important that you first clean, rinse, and disinfect your lenses after each removal. Be sure to do this by using the lens care products and procedures that have been originally recommended by your eye care specialist. Ideally, it is best to form the habit of cleaning of the lenses as soon as they are removed from your eyes. Cleaning and rinsing are needed to remove mucus, secretions, films and protein deposits that may have built up on your lenses during wear.

Always follow the set routine and use the recommended products to avoid any serious eye problems. If you wish to change products for some reason, it is highly recommended to consult with your eye care specialist about the product before doing so. There may be many reasons why you should not or cannot safely use the new product. Also, keep track of expiry dates on lenses and all the lens care products. Do not mix lens care systems with other products because not all products will be compatible with others.

Basic Cleaning Rules

- Always clean the same lens first to avoid mix-ups when the time comes to insert them again. – Always follow the instructions provided on the cleaning solution label and from the eye care specialist. – After the cleaning is completed, rinse the lens with the recommended rinsing solution to remove the cleaning solution as well as any mucus and film from the lens surface. – Once the process is completed, put the lens into the correct chamber of your lens storage case.

Disinfecting

- After the cleaning is completed, disinfect the lenses using the system recommended by your eye care specialist, following the instructions given and /or written on the product label. – When using hydrogen peroxide lens care systems, the lenses must first be neutralized before wearing. – Be sure to thoroughly rinse the lenses with a fresh solution before inserting and wearing your lenses. Take caution with lenses that are chemically disinfected, as they could absorb ingredients found in the solution. These chemicals could irritate the eye, so to avoid this, thoroughly rinse the lenses in a fresh and sterile saline solution just before inserting the lens in the eye.

Proper care of your Acuvue Oasys contact lens is a necessary responsibility.
In early times, sunglasses were barely useful for the purpose of keeping out the brightness of the sun. Bits of smoked quartz held by hand, and then later held to the face by a crude frame, they were hardly the practical fashion accessory that they have become today. Yet with the invention of the polarized lens, by Edwin H. Land, sunglasses went from keeping out the sun to keeping our eyesight healthy by blocking out harmful UV rays. To understand what a polarized lens is, we need to understand how polarized sunglasses work.

In the 1930s the Army Air Corp approached a well known company, Bausch and Lomb, to research and develop an anti-glare style sunglasses for pilots. They came up with a design that made the frame slightly droop to maximize shielding of the pilots eyes. Then they incorporated a dark green tint which would absorb the yellow band of the light spectrum. The dark green tint filters and diffuses the concentrated light waves, which eliminates 99% of reflecting glare. The end result is a reduction of annoying and /or dangerous glare.

The way in which the polarized lens works to assist your sight is that it blocks the horizontally polarized light from a surface with a vertically oriented polarizer that is integrated into the lens. Surfaces such as still water, flat pavement, or even glass and shiny metals can reflect a large amount of light into the eyes which makes it difficult to focus properly on the surface and the items around it. This can cause a person to be distracted or even not see items that become hidden behind the bright light. Using polarized sunglasses removes the glare by bouncing it off your sunglasses allowing you to actually see through the glare.

Sometimes polarized lenses may react poorly with LCD (liquid crystal display) lighting commonly found in car dashboards or on bank machine displays at automated tellers. In fact, depending on the angle of the screen display, the LCD display can become almost invisible. This is of course is something that needs to be explored before sitting behind the wheel of your car.

Polarized sunglasses are no longer just for pilots or drivers. They are now part of an ever growing group of sports enthusiasts for many types of sports events including many outdoor winter activities such as skiing. However, polarized lenses sometimes do not work well on reflective snow surfaces, so be sure to try out the sunglasses you plan to use for your outdoor snow day activities.

A Test for Polarized Lenses

If you wish to test your sunglasses to make sure they are actually polarized, find a surface that is reflecting a large amount of light such as a still lake on a sunny day. Find the brightest or most reflective part of the lakes surface, and then put on your polarized sunglasses and look at the same area of the lake. While looking at the spot, turn your head to the right and left observing any differences. If you see that the lens gets light and then dark or, that there is a significant reduction in the glare, you have confirmed that your sunglasses are polarized.

There are also polarized photo-chromic lenses now on the market that are capable of changing the amount of light they let in. This is a great asset for people who are frequently in and out of shaded areas or in and out of buildings during the course of the day.

With the increased health risks associated with UV rays, polarized sunglasses are a healthy choice for everyone.
