If I ask you to make a quick list, say 5 items, of things you consider crucial to living a healthy and comfortable life, what are the chances of that list including eye exercises as one? Close to nil I am guessing? In fairness, it never was a widely known practice, but in today’s tech driven world, now, more than ever, exercising our eyes is becoming crucial.

Let’s take a while and go over the things that over tax our eyes. First things first, there’s television. Now, television has been around for quite some time now and when we were children we were warned that too much of it can cause damage to our eyes. But have we ever heeded them? Look around you and you see more people with glasses than those without. Of course this is all relative to where you live, cause where I am from, that is the case. But still the fact remains that television is a leading cause of eye damage.

Another main cause for eye degradation is one of the most classic examples, remember the reading tips? I am sure even your grandparents heard this from their parents. That is, reading in poor light. Now, reading per se is not harmful of course, but reading in poor light or against the light can cause massive strain on your eyes that can cause some problems like having to wear glasses. Problems we can remedy using proper eye exercises.

And now we go to computers. If you ask around, you will surely find that more than 90% of the people you know use computers on a daily basis. This is because more and more businesses now use computers to help their business. Even jobs that are seemingly labor related, they still have to log in every once in a while to computers. Then there’s the surge in popularity of social networks, which expose more people to the dangers of using the computer more than what is healthy. Let’s not go to the case of cellphones as well. Almost everyone has one, and everyday people look at those tiny screens to read messages or make calls. These all add up to more and more people having eyesight problems. I haven’t even mentioned the other gadgets that start to encroach on our daily lives like GPS devices and MP3 players. Granted mostly young people use these stuff, but that makes it more alarming to know. Imagine, all our kids today growing up having to wear glasses?

So what do all these show? Well, it just gives an idea on how much eye exercise is needed in today’s world if we all want to have healthy and sharp eyes. Sure some ailments are genetic, but some can be prevented. Which we want to do really. BY learning and practicing the basics of eye exercises, we may prevent our need for glasses or contact lenses. So before it is too late, try to learn the right eye exercise for the life you lead. It just takes a few minutes of your times, but the benefits of it will last years. Less migraines and headaches too!

A healthy person always has a pair of healthy eyes. Perhaps it is one of the reasons why doctors flash a light to our eyes to check them each time we go for a check up. But at the basic level, or at our level of understanding, we are all aware that when the eyes are in such a perfect condition, it is safe to say that the rest of the body is also in tip top shape. Keeping our eyes is actually a very easy thing to do, like doing eye exercises or eating the right kind of food for starters. That is why some people claim that the key to a better fitness and wellness is through our very own eyes.

Because just imagine if you wake up one day and you have completely lost your ability to see? What will make it hard for you is the fact that most eye conditions can be avoided if we follow some regular eye maintenance.

Now to keep a pair of healthy eyes you should follow these easy suggestions.

Taking vitamin A should become a routine for you because it can help prevent such nasty eye conditions like night blindness While taking supplements is a good option, it would still be better if you take your regular vitamin A supply from natural food. Vegetables like celery and carrot are rich in vitamin A and also tastes good. Adding these vegetables to your diet is easy as there are many dishes that contain these in the ingredients.

Go green, as natural as you can get. Green vegetables will always be the most healthy food that you can eat. They contain lots of vitamins and minerals that are not only good for your eyes, but for the rest of your body as well. Choose vegetables such as spinach, broccoli and other dark green in color because these contain high levels of antioxidants. Antioxidants are great in getting rid of free radicals which can cause harm to our cells. Your eyes will therefore benefit from such a diet.

You should also be eating tuna, rice, nuts and dairy products because these are rich in selenium and zinc, two minerals that contribute to a healthy eyesight. That is because these minerals are also great in getting rid of the free radicals. Again, taking supplements is also a good option in case you are allergic to nuts or milk.

Do an eye exercise every hour or whenever you start to feel your eyes getting strained. A little looking to the farthest corner or making your eyes go round or staring at relaxing colors like green, all of these can help keep your eyes in good condition and also make you feel relaxed. You should do an eye exercise more often especially if you do a lot of computer work or reading.

You should never forget to relax and take a break, more so if you have been working for hours without taking at least a coffee break. You can just shut your eyes for a few minutes and you will instantly feel the kind of relaxation that such a short break can give you. Your eyes will be looking and feeling better afterward.

LASIK, or “laser-assisted inside situ keratomileusis,” is the most familiar refractive surgery practice. Refractive surgeries, including LASIK, reshape the cornea to correct distorted vision often eliminating the need for glasses or contacts.

Higher-order aberrations are visual problems not captured inside a traditional eye exam. Inside a young healthy eye, the level of higher-order aberrations are typically low and insignificant. Concern has long plagued the tendency of refractive surgeries to induce higher-order aberration not correctible by accepted contacts or glasses. The progression of lasik method and technologies has helped eliminate the risk of clinically significant visual impairment after the surgery.

The following are any of the extra frequently reported complications of LASIK:

1. Dry eyes
2. Overcorrection or undercorrection
3. Visual acuity fluctuation
4. Halos or starbursts around light sources at night
5. Light sensitivity
6. Ghosts or double vision
7. Wrinkles in flap (striae)
8. Decentered ablation

How Soon Can I Use Eye Makeup?
You can resume wearing eye makeup starting 1-2 weeks after your cure. We strongly advise that you purchase fresh eye makeup, specifically mascara, to avoid potential illness after your medication.

The most main thing for anyone considering LASIK surgery is to determine if they are a fantastic candidate. Finding a surgeon who will honestly assess compatibility is extremely vital, and vastly preferable to a provider who does not do a careful examination, and thus risks serious side effects.

LASIK is an outpatient surgical procedure and will take 10 to 15 minutes for every eye.

The just anesthetic used is an eye drop that numbs the surface of the eye. The method is done with the person awake. LASIK can be done on one or equally eyes during the matching session.

During LASIK, a special knife (a microkeratome) is used to cut a hinged flap of corneal tissue off the outer layer of the eyeball. The flap is lifted out of the way and a exclusive laser is used to reshape the primary corneal tissue.
