Buying Your Contacts Online

Even though you can buy contact lenses through local stores and your optician’s office, most people choose to buy their contact lenses online.  Buying online is much easier than the traditional way, and offers several advantages as well.  This day and age, buying online is a much smarter decision, and much easier than buying the traditional way.

The best thing about buying contacts online is the fact that there is a lot more to choose from.  There are a lot of different brands and manufacturers online, many of which aren’t available from your local store.  You can buy from a manufacturers website directly, or choose a third party dealer that offers a wide selection of brands and models.

Acuvue Contact Lens

Its really no secret that Acuvue is one of the most popular and most dominant brands of contact lenses out there on the market.  There are several different types of Acuvue contact lenses to choose from, including Advanced, Acuvue 2 Colors, and lenses that contain the very popular and innovative Hydraclear.  Oasys is another type of Acuvue contact lens, although it is somewhat new and isn’t as easy to find.

Just like other brands and types of contacts, Acuvue lenses were designed to correct many vision problems such as far sight, astigmatism, near sight, and the inability or lack of changing focus from far to near.  Acuvue offers you options as well, such as hard lenses, soft lenses, and even toric contact lens

Acuvue Advance Contact Lenses

Just like any other contact lens from Acuvue, the Acuvue advance contact lenses offer you plenty of quality and reliability.  They are a cut above the rest, offering you excellent quality and comfort for a very affordable price.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Acuvue advance lenses is the addition of Hydroclear, made by Johnson and Johnson.  Although other types of Acuvue lenses now offer Hydroclear, the advance lenses were the first.  Hydraclear is a break through in contact lens technology, perfect for those who have problems with their lenses drying out.  This technology is considered to be among the best - and ideal for anyone who wants the best for their eyes.

Bifocal Contact Lenses

For a majority of us, presbyopia is something we have to live with.  In definition, presbyopia is the lack of focusing on things in close range.  The cause for this, is the lens in our eyes becoming less and less flexible as we grow older.  The bad part is, most of us will need some type of corrective lenses, such as contact lenses or glasses and possibly even bifocals at some point in our lives as this condition gets worse.

Eye Exercises Can Improve Your Eyesight

How to improve eyesight can be fairly easily learned. There are some simple eye exercises which can improve the condition of cross eyes. They are detailed below.

EYE DRILLS FOR LAZY MUSCLES

Hold a chopstick and pencil at right angles. Have the eye travel along the horizontal stick to the intersection, then up the vertical pencil and back again to the starting point. Gradually slide the vertical pencil closer, each time letting the eye travel along the distance from starting point to intersection, to the tip of the vertical pencil and back again. Slide the upright pencil back and forth seven or eight times, always following it with the eyes.

Eye Care Tips For Adults and Children

Eye problems in children should be identified as early as possible. There are two things a parent should look out for in order to make sure his child has the best possible eyesight. These are posture and any sign of emotional disturbance.

POSTURE

Be alert to notice the first signs of poor posture. The vigorous, healthy child has a naturally erect posture and a correct use of body function. Faulty habits of posture sometimes develop as young as in the toddler, where they can be corrected as fast as they make their appearance. Because of its great importance to general health as well as its effect on eye vision, posture must be drilled into the child.

Types of contact lenses

Contact lenses also called “contacts” or “lenses” are corrective, cosmetic, or therapeutic lenses usually placed on the cornea of the eye.

Contact lens usually serve the same corrective purpose as conventional spectacle lenses, but are much smaller and almost invisible. Many contact lenses are tinted with a faint blue or green to make them more visible when immersed in cleaning and storage solutions. This tint is also known as “handling tint”. Cosmetic lenses are deliberately colored for altering the appearance of the eye.

What Are Cataracts And How Are They Treated?

Cataracts cause blurry eyesight due to the eye’s lense becoming clouded over. Fortunately, of all the various eye problems out there, cataract treatment is typically easy and you can have your vision restored to its fullest with minimal hassle. So, are you curious about how to treat a cataract?

Cataract laser surgery is the best treatment option to go with, as it is the only way to completely restore vision to the eye. The basic process of the surgery is that a small incision will be made and, depending on the severity of the cataract, the eye’s natural lens is removed either in sections or completely intact. After the damaged lens is removed, the surgeon implants an artificial lens which will remain permanently in the eye. One does not have to wait until the cataract becomes severe to have the surgery.

The transition from the Hard (PMMA) to Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) contact lenses.

After the introduction of the corneal hard lens, the contact lens wearers were introduced to the “Holy Grail” of contact lenses: the RGP lenses. It was supposed to be a hard lenses made from a “breathable” plastic. However the amount of oxygen transmission was not very high and it soon became obvious that lenses with high powers and therefore thicker lenses did not benefit greatly from this new material.

Different kind of contact lenses

Contact lenses became popular after the Second World War with the introduction of Perspex. This material called PMMA by the contact lenses industry became the first choice for producing contact lenses.

At first the lenses were made rather large in diameter, but soon contact lens practitioners realized that this caused the cornea to be starved of oxygen. The result was a corneal oedema which usually caused increased myopia. Also many patients started to complain about a halo effect around lights. Some of the halos consisted of a rainbow colors.
