Why Sunglasses Are A Police Officer's Best Friend
Quite often you will see the police wearing their police prescription glasses but why on earth do they do this? The main reasons that people suggest are protecting the eyes, looking cool or because they can? It looks to be all three of them.
Sunlight
The police still do patrol the streets on foot and wearing sunglasses can help them on those long summer days as the sun can damage the eyes when you are out in it for too long. Sometimes it is actually reccommended that plice officers wear sunglasses on days like this so they can see and it can be more important for a police cyclist. They are exposed in the sun even more than the people that are not on the bikes so it helps them see the road.
Expressions- I don’t think so
Many cops will think about putting sunglasses on when it comes to giving an interview, not only does it hide who they are but it hides all expressions too. Very clever criminals can play off of expressions which is partly why it is done. Wearing reflective sunglasses is kind of there to freak out the criminal as it must be annoying to look at yourself for a three hour interview.
Bad Ass
Lets be honest, you are more likely to run scared from a cop wearing reflective sunglasses than someone who is not. Think way back to Terminator 2, remember when the cop took off his sunglasses, how bad did that look!
If you don’t believe me then it is well worth checking out some of the films with those awesome police designer glasses in and get yourself a pair of D&G sunglasses.
Although the police do sometimes actually have to wear these glasses in the sun there has to be times where they do not need them at all and they just wear them to intimidate people. Wouldnt we love to do it too.
